  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Said strike was his seventh in the Premier League this season, to sit alongside three assists. He has become just the fifth player to record 10+ goal involvements in that division when aged 37 or over. Vardy turned 38 on January 11 but is still going strong.

The last man to join that list was five-time Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldo, during his second stint at Old Trafford in 2021-22. Giggs achieved the feat 10 years prior to that, while Speed managed it in 2006-07 and Sheringham – while on the books at Portsmouth – in 2003-04.

    WHAT NEXT?

Vardy, who helped to fire Leicester to title glory back in 2015-16 and made a point of reminding Spurs fans of that fact when trolling the north London natives once again, will hope that there are many more goals to come – with the veteran frontman taking his overall tally for the Foxes to 198 through 486 appearances.
