Stay or go? Amad Diallo breaks silence on uncertain Man Utd future after scoring brace in Europa League win against PAOK

Amad Diallo has seen questions asked of his future at Manchester United, but the exciting winger wants to spend a "long time" with the Red Devils.

  WHAT HAPPENED?

  As things stand, the 22-year-old forward is only tied to terms at Old Trafford through to the summer of 2025 – although that deal does include the option for a 12-month extension. He has often found regular game time hard to come by, leading to loan spells at Rangers and Sunderland being taken in.

  Amad saw his 2023-24 campaign decimated by injury, and was in and out of the United team under Dutch coach Erik ten Hag. Interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy handed him a starting berth for the first time in seven matches when the Red Devils faced PAOK in the Europa League, and saw that decision vindicated with a match-winning brace.

  Quizzed on future plans after that continental contest, having previously expressed his willingness to enter into talks over a new contract, Amad said: "I’m happy to be here. I’m happy to play for this club, and yeah, I want to stay here for a long, long, long time to make history with this club."

  Amad faces fierce competition for places on the flanks in United’s team – with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho and Antony also on the club’s books – while incoming coach Ruben Amorim favours a wing-back system that may leave little room for the Ivorian.

  However, Amad added on working with a Portuguese tactician that will be inheriting the reins on November 11: "I am excited to have him in this team and I can’t wait to work with him. We are ready for the next step. I know I was player of the month in August, but I have moved on. I am focused for now, for the future and to give my best for the shirt and get this team back on top again."
